Srinagar, Dec 29 (KNO): The first time Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) applicants have requested authorities to reconsider the decision of marks card attestation requirements by the Indian Embassy.
Applicants informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the recent query about the requirement of marks sheets uploaded must be attested by the Indian Embassy has sparked concerns and distress among them.
They said that the requirement wasn't communicated in advance thereby causing distress to them.
They added that there are hundreds of such applicants from J&K who are residing in their country after completion of their medical education but the query has necessitated them getting their mark sheets attested by the Indian Embassy in their respective countries of study.
They said that returning to their countries of study for attestation is very challenging for most of the applicants as there are several such applicants who don't have valid visas and processing again will be time consuming.
Under these circumstances, applicants have requested concerned authorities to reconsider the requirement of attestation of mark sheets as degree certificates have been already arrested by the Indian Embassy of the respective countries of study.
They said that there is a need for clear information so as to avoid causing undue stress and inconvenience to applicants.
They said if authorities won't reconsider the decision then it may impact on the ability of FMGE applicants in their participation in an examination that is scheduled to be held on 20th January next year.
Notably it is a licensure examination which is conducted every year, biannually by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in India. Successfully qualifying the MCI Exam or FMGE is a mandatory requirement for all Indian citizens who have a medical degree from a college outside India but wish to practise medicine in India—(KNO)
